The present work deals with the preparation and characterization of activated carbons from bark asparagus palm (Laccosperma robustum) by chemical activation phosphoric acid potassium hydroxide. process was optimized on basis analysis iodine number, methylene blue number yield as a function parameters (concentration activating agents pyrolysis temperature). It emerges that temperature concentration influence process. Their values were 500°C 20% respectively for carbon H3PO4 (ACP) 700°C 1.5% KOH (ACK). numbers obtained 850.26 mg/g ACP 865.49 ACK. 149.35 149.25 yields 25% 5.9% prepared under optimal conditions have shown pH zero-point charge (pHzpc) 4.4 7.0 ACK respectively. determination surface functions revealed had strong acidic character while neutral character. Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy also showed presence different functional groups precursor carbons.
